Disneyland California rules: From security to hotel, and everything in between

Disneyland California has clear rules that can affect your entry, experience, and even your outfit. Missing a detail can mean delays, denied access, or having to leave items behind. This guide of rules and regulations will help you enter smoothly and enjoy the parks without disruptions.

01. Security screening and entry rules

All guests, bags, clothing, and personal items are subject to security screening at any time. Disneyland reserves the right to refuse or remove bags and handle unattended items as needed. Entry may be denied if prohibited items are found during screening.

02. Ticket use and guest eligibility

Disneyland California tickets are non-transferable, non-refundable, and must be used by the same person throughout their validity. Valid tickets and ID may be required for entry or re-entry. Tickets do not include separately ticketed special events unless explicitly stated.

03. Supervision and age requirements

Children must be supervised at all times. Guests under 14 must be accompanied by someone aged 14 or older to enter theme parks. Children under 7 must ride attractions with a supervising guest aged 14 or older.

04. Smoking and substance policies

Theme parks, Downtown Disney, and hotel areas are smoke-free except for designated outdoor smoking zones. Marijuana and illegal substances are prohibited at all times. Smoking inside Disney hotel rooms or balconies results in a $250–$500 recovery fee.

05. Prohibited items

Weapons, self-defense devices, fireworks, drones, alcohol, glass containers, noise makers, selfie sticks, large tripods, folding chairs, wagons, oversized strollers, and large bags are prohibited inside Disneyland California. Additional items may be restricted, if deemed unsafe or disruptive.

06. Bag size, strollers, and mobility devices

Bags larger than 24” x 15” x 18” are not allowed. Strollers must not exceed 31” x 52”; wagons and stroller wagons are prohibited. Mobility devices must have at least three wheels, maintain stability, and operate at walking speed.

07. Prohibited activities

Unauthorized sales, demonstrations, solicitations, commercial photography, backstage access, costume roleplay that disrupts operations, and unsafe behavior are prohibited. Guests may not obstruct walkways or engage in activities that interfere with park operations or guest safety.

08. Guest courtesy and behavior

Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, is required at all times. Clothing that drags on the ground or contains offensive imagery is prohibited. Guests must avoid profanity, line jumping, running, or disruptive behavior toward Cast Members or other guests.

09. Costume and mask guidelines

Guests aged 14 and older may not wear costumes or masks except for approved special events. Younger guests may wear masks only if they do not cover the full face and allow clear peripheral vision at all times.

10. Animal and service animal policies

Only trained service animals (dogs or miniature horses) are permitted. Emotional support or companion animals are not allowed. Service animals must remain leashed and may be restricted from certain attractions or water features for safety reasons.

11. Hotel rules and quiet hours

Quiet hours at Disney Resort hotels are from 11pm to 7am. Guests must follow posted facility rules and vacate rooms at checkout time. Hanging items from balconies or sprinklers is prohibited for safety reasons.

12. Disneyland Resort rights and enforcement
